STRIKE #1: THE LICENSE PLATE REVOLUTION

WHO: People seeking to regain freedom and stop government from becoming even more powerful and destructive.

WHEN: SEPTEMBER 2, 2010 (ATLAS SHRUGGED DAY)

WHAT: A license plate revolution.  People across America turn their license plate (a symbol of government control) upside-down to express their willingness to fight back against government that has become too large, too powerful and too controlling of our lives.

Whereas the only ethical function of government is to protect our rights, now government has grown so large and powerful that it has become the primary violator of our rights.  Governments take by threat of force more of our money than we could ever lose in an armed robbery, they obliterate our freedom by requiring us to get a permit or license before taking almost any significant action, they control almost every major component of society: electricity, water, roads, broadcasting, education, huge sections of land and now, medicine.  Governments can take our homes and land at whim through eminent domain and throw us in jail for political speech through campaign laws. 

Freedom is both right and necessary for the life and prosperity of individuals.  However, the primary activity of governments has been to take away freedom, destroy prosperity, commit theft, and murder millions.  As politicians endlessly offer to use tax money to pay for goods and services in exchange for votes governments grow like cancer to the point of bankruptcy. 

It is inevitable that the politicians plan to unleash on the American people a new army of IRS agents to enforce their recent health care law.   We must fight back now before resistance becomes even more difficult and dangerous and before the government completely destroys the economy with further laws, regulations and taxes.

WHY A LICENSE PLATE REVOLUTION?  BECAUSE...

1. Turning your license plate upside down is political speech and should be protected by the Constitution.

2.  Governments keep people in line with fear.  If enough people demonstrate in a very visible and tangible way that we no longer fear our government we can start pushing back against unethical laws, taxes and regulations and the politicians that impose them on us.  In our history many Americans have lost their lives for your freedom.  Now it's your turn to honor them by re-igniting the flame of liberty within our own nation.  Where they risked their life you only need to accept the penalty for revolving your license plate.  Yet it is a much bolder indication of our willingness to fight for freedom than having another protest that is ignored by the political elite.  Civil disobedience can not be ignored. 

3.  The freedom movement has suffered an unrelenting series of defeats.  In every battle it is important to raise the morale of the troops.  If millions of Americans turn their license plate upside down it will provide encouragement that ultimately we can we win and we must continue and intensify our campaign to reduce the size and scope of government.

4. Governments will have only two choices: ignore or enforce.  If governments ignore the revolved license plates then more people will join in.  If governments try to prohibit this simple expression of political speech they might find that millions of Americans are awakened to the cause of liberty.

WHY SEPTEMBER 2, 2010?
The book Atlas Shrugged is the greatest fiction novel about Americans fighting totalitarian government.  September 2 factors prominently in the book.  What a perfect day to rebel against oppressive government.

Q. What do license plates have to do with fighting oppressive government?
A. Just as much as tea had to do with it.  We must all wear a government number on our car so we can be controlled, tracked and taxed.  Soon we may also have to show identification papers.  License plates are just a symbol of government that we can easily rebel against with a simple screwdriver.

Q. License plates are controlled at the state level but isn't the federal government the main problem? 
A. Government at all levels is out of control.  Rotating your license plate is just a simple way to express your disgust at all levels of government.

Q.  Gosh, I'm scared.  I'm afraid to get a traffic ticket.
A.  You worthless, cowardly son of bitch.  Millions of Americans have risked their lives and many have died to keep America an island of freedom in the world.  Now freedom is being snuffed out from within.  It's your turn to take action and take risks!  You can't have a risk-free revolution.

THE RIVER
This strike may only temporarily slow down America's slide into socialist dictatorship.  To return America to freedom and prosperity the only solution is to replace left-wing university professors with professors who advocate reason, individual rights and free-market economics. Ideas from universities flow down to reporters in the media, the media strongly influences voting and the result is politicians who reflect the ideas flowing out of universities.  Therefore, in order to change the bottom of the river (politics) we need to change the top (universities).

REASON
We must also advocate freedom first and foremost on moral grounds based in reason. Pragmatic arguments should only supplement the moral argument.  This excellent animation explains why force, like that in socialized medicine, is wrong.
